MANILA, July 6 (PNA) — The provinces of Zambales and Bataan remains under ‘orange rainfall’ warning due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon enhance by Tropical storm “Egay”, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest advisory issued at 6 p.m. Monday.
The orange rainfall advisory, the second in its three-stage rainfall warning system is raised in areas where rainfall is between 15 mm and 30 mm within one hour. Flooding is a definite threat in communities under the orange alert.
Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning was also raised at 6 p.m. over Cavite, Batangas and Laguna.
Under the heavy rainfall warning system, a yellow rainfall advisory is raised when the expected rainfall amount is between 7.5 mm and 15 mm within one hour and likely to continue.
Communities given this advisory are advised to be aware of the weather condition and warned that flooding may be possible in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains affecting Metro Manila, the provinces of Rizal, Quezon and Bulacan may persist within three hours.
“Flooding is threatening and public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council concerned are advised to monitor the weather condition and watch for the next advisory to be issued at 9 p.m. Monday,” PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, some parts of the metropolis got flooded due to rains from southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm “Egay”.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) gutter-deep floods affected Sto. Domingo, Araneta Ave., E. Rodriguez Ave., Maria Clara St., Aurora Boulevard, Boni Serrano Ave. and Sgt. Rivera St. in Quezon City; E. Malvar St. in Caloocan; Andrews Ave., Tramo Road, MIA Road and Coastal Road in Paranaque; Magallanes Ave. and Pasong Tamo St. in Makati; and Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay.
Knee-deep floods were recorded at 11 a.m. in Balintawak in Quezon City and Karuhatan in Valenzuela, while half-tire deep floods affected R. Papa St. in Manila and Biak na Bato St. in Quezon City.
At 3 p.m., the MMDA deployed six military trucks to ferry stranded passengers from Quezon Ave. to Cubao; Cubao to Ayala; and España to Quezon Ave. (PNA)
