MANILA, May 26 (PNA) — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to investigate the controversial viral pictures of a child treated as a dog.
The viral pictures on the social networking site show a three-year old child was being treated as a dog by a woman who identified herself as the baby boy’s mother.
The three photos were posted on the Facebook account of a certain Ayra Dela Cruz Francisco.
The pictures show a naked child tied with a straw-like leash while crawling on the floor.
There was also a blue dog food bowl with food.
The caption says “Meet our new pet dog … my child’s crazy … does whatever he’s told … makes me laugh so much.”
Calling the photos “heart wrenching”, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Tuesday said that “if proven authentic, then we are looking at a case of gross child abuse which is punishable under RA 7610 (Anti-Child Abuse Law).”
For his part, NBI Director Virgilio L. Mendez said that the Cybercrime Division is already working on tracking the owner of the said Facebook account. (PNA)
