TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte, May 22 (PNA) — Five hundred members of Maragusan Multi-purpose Cooperative (MAGROW) in Maragusan town, Compostela Valley province will soon be covered by the Social Security System (SSS), following the signing of an agreement for social security coverage between the two institutions.
“Our partnership with MAGROW further strengthens SSS’ campaign to reach out to workers without social protection,” Emmanuel R. Palma, SSS Assistant Vice President for Southern Mindanao Division said. Social security services to be provided by the cooperative are receiving of SSS Form E1/E4, RS1, R1 and applications for salary loan and funeral claims from members as well as non-members of the cooperative.
The cooperative members are mostly banana growers.
“With the opening of SSS-MAGROW services, members can now easily gain access to financial assistance during times of SSS-covered contingencies such as maternity, sickness, disability, retirement or old age, and death,” said Eddie A. Jara, Senior Vice President for Visayas and Mindanao Groups.
“This is a good development for us in Maragusan because our constituents, will no longer have to go Tagum, Mati or Davao City to pay SSS contributions or submit benefit claim applications which is too expensive,“ Mayor Cesar C. Colina said.
Present during the recent signing of the memorandum of agreement were Rodolfo D. Reyes, Chairman – MAGROW, Municipal Mayor Cesar C. Colina, SB Member Emmanuel Abyan and Merlene Flores, General Manager – MAGROW; SSS officials SVP Eddie A. Jara, AVP Emmanuel R. Palma, Branch Heads Valeriano Wenceslao Jr., Jose Catoto and Erec Rana of Tagum, Panabo and Mati, respectively, and Assistant Branch Head Alnora Presbitero. (PNA)
