ILOILO CITY, March 30 (PNA) -– Two fast crafts plying the Iloilo City to Bacolod City route have already notified the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) that they will suspend their trips in observance of the Good Friday. Thus, passengers are now advised to plan early their trips when there are still normal operations.
Engr. Ruel Joseph Pador, Senior Shipping Operations Specialist of MARINA, however, said the Ocean Jet, another fast craft company, will continue its normal operations even on Good Friday with four round trips from Iloilo city to Bacolod city.
Engr. Pador further assured that during their inspections of the fast crafts and roll on roll off vessels plying Iloilo city to Bacolod city and in other ports in Western Visayas over the weekend, they only noticed minor deficiencies like the dirty restrooms that made them call the attention of the ship captain.
However, he said that since the vessels still have valid safety certificates then they are safe for voyage.
He added that their inspection conducted over the weekend as part of the Oplan Ligtas Biyahe Holy Week is just to countercheck the shipping companies compliance with Marina’s safety requirements. (PNA)
