ILOILO CITY, March 2 (PNA) — Iloilo City will share its gains from community-based adaptation and resilience against disasters (CBARAD) project during the 3rd United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction slated March 15 in Sendai, Japan.
The session entitled “Strengthening Resilience through Local Governments and Stakeholders Partnerships” will be hosted by the CITYNET Yokohama Project Office and the City of Yokohama.
Yokohama mayor Fumiko Jayashi, in a letter to Mabilog, said that the first part of the session will only cover CBARAD projects.
The CBARAD project, where this city is the lone recipient from the Philippines, is supported by the CITYNET Yokohama Project Office, City of Yokohama and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Its pilot phase that will culminate this month covered five villages of the city namely Buntatala, Balabago, Dungon A, San Isidro and Calubihan in Jaro district.
During the period, the recipient villages were exposed to various trainings such as disaster awareness, evacuation procedures and evacuation shelter management, and were also provided with disaster risk reduction equipment.
