BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 28 (PNA) — About 400 Korean students are expected to come here after the City of Bacolod signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Jeonju National University of Education Republic of Korea Tuesday.
Mayor Monico Puentevella signed for Bacolod City while president Dr. Kwang-Chan Yoo for Jeonju National University of Education in rites held at the Bacolod People’s House.
According to the MOA, the university will continue to send Korean students who will have access to schools here, particularly the University of Saint La Salle (USLS).
“This shows that we have a good relationship with South Korea. It’s a good sign for Bacolod,” Puentevella said.
Last December, a memorandum of understanding between the City of Bacolod and EduGlobe was also signed by Puentevella and EduGlobe president Kang-Jae Ryu for the establishment of the Bacolod City Cultural Center in Korea.
The five-year MOU, upon the principles of equality and reciprocity, shall promote and develop a cultural partnership between Bacolod and Korea, in addition to future exchange of faculty, staff, researchers and students, academic and cultural materials, publications and information, joint research projects and academic and cultural meetings and tours.
Ryu said the BCCC will “spread Bacolod culturally” to the Koreans in line with the nation’s multi-cultural approach.
