ILOILO CITY, Jan. 28 (PNA) — Some P70 billion worth of investments of the P105-billion commitment from big investors during last year’s Iloilo Business Summit have already come in, according to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
The investments include among others expansion projects of the Global Business Power Corporation (GBPC) and Plazuela de Iloilo, ongoing construction of projects by the Ayala and Megaworld and the Iloilo City Center by the Gaisano City Group of Companies.
“They were part of the result of our business summit that was held in 2014,” Mabilog said.
This year, the mayor hopes to get even just one half if not the same amount of commitment as another business summit is set to be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City.
Mabilog will be meeting with the Iloilo Local Development Council (ILED) to find out if they are still interested to host the gathering. Otherwise, he expressed that the Trade and Investments Promotions Board is also willing to host.
The mayor has already extended the invitation to Ambassadors Elsa Cankoru and John Gomes of Turkey and Bangladesh, respectively during their recent visit to the city.
He urged the two envoys to invite investors from their country to join the summit and see for themselves the areas where they can possibly invest. (PNA)
