ILOILO CITY, Dec. 17 (PNA) — The Department of Health-Center for Health Development 6 (DOH-CHD 6) is preparing for the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) meetings to be held in Western Visayas.
Dr. Paz Corrales, assistant director of the DOH-CHD6, said that their department being in charge of the Emergency Preparedness Unit for the APEC has now conducted, together with the Office of Civil Defense, contingency planning in Boracay island in Aklan province, Iloilo city and this January in Bacolod city.
The premier tourism island of Boracay and the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod will play host to the APEC.
She also said that they had conducted mass casualty incident and basic life support trainings to personnel who would be deployed during the APEC.
Through the support of Gov. Florencio T. Miraflores, they also have conducted training on advance life support in Aklan.
Apart from the local health personnel to be deployed by the DPH-CHD 6, there will also be some premier medical teams, who would be assigned here during the APEC meetings.
Coordination with other government agencies, particularly the Philippine Air Force is also being done in case there would be medical evacuation. (PNA)
