TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Oct 18 (PNA) –A replica of the Callao caves, a favorite tourist destination in Cagayan province which houses a seven-chamber of white limestone rocks located in Barangays Magdalo and Quibal in Peńablanca, some 24 kilometers northeast of Tuguegarao City is now an added attraction at the Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center (CMHRC).
Meant to promote advocacy and environment protection, Emma Gammad, officer-in-charge of the CMHRC, said that the newly-established natural heritage landscape features a cave setting exhibit filled with educational materials for curious visitors.
Gammad said there were times when visitors wanting to visit the Callao caves situated at the western foothills of the northern Sierra Madre mountains within the Peńablanca protected landscape and seascape fail to climb up the caves due to bad weather. Hence, as a consolation for visitors particularly those who travelled from far places, the Cagayan museum initiated this natural exhibit.
Known as the melting pot of cultures, Cagayan province is home to diverse ethnic community such as Negritas, Itawes, Maluegs, Ibatans and Ilokanos.
A trip to the museum located just a few meters from the Cagayan Capitol hills allows visitors to marvel about Cagayan’s rich natural landscape and cultural heritage.
“We enjoin the public to visit our exhibit. A place of enjoyment, education and awareness,” said Gammad.
The museum opens from Mondays to Fridays and it is for free admission.(PNA)
