LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 17 (PNA) — Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda said only a few hundred families are left to be evacuated after the number of target evacuees had been trimmed down from 10,555 families or 51,625 persons to 7,250 families or 35,779 persons as a result of actual verification of the real count in affected areas.
“As of now, we are only working for 441 families left to be evacuated today,” he said.
About 6,809 families or 31,903 persons have been evacuated in four municipalities and two cities after Salceda ordered forced evacuation of residents in the 6-kilometer-radius permanent danger zone and 6-8-km-radius extended danger zone.
In the municipality of Guinobatan, 1,144 families or 5,933 persons from the villages of Maninila, Muladbucad Grande, Muladbucad Pequena and Tandarora have been evacuated at the AECID Evacuation Center in the village of Travesia.
In the municipality of Malilipot, 716 families or 2,950 persons from the villages of Calbayog, San Roque and Canaway have been evacuated at the San Jose Elementary School.
In Camalig, 2,286 families or 11,875 persons from the villages of Anoling, Cabangan, Quirangay, Salugan and Sua have been evacuated at the Anoling Elementary School, Cabangan Elementary School, AECID Building and Camalig National Central School, respectively.
In the municipality of Daraga, 1,869 families or 7,476 persons from the villages of Budiao, Alcala, Mi-isi, Salvacion, Matnog and Banadero have been evacuated to Budiao Elem. School, Bascaran Elementary School and High School, Upper Malabog Elementary School, Tabon-Tabon Elementary School and Anislag Elementary School, respectively.
In Ligao City, 334 families or 1,825 persons from barangays Nasisi, Baligang and Amtic were evacuated at the Mormons Chapel, AECD Building and Amtic High School, respectively.
In Tabaco City, 460 families or 1,844 persons from Magapo, Comon, Buang and Mariroc villages have been evacuated to San Antonio Elementary School, Tabaco National High School, Buang Elementary School and Tabaco North West Elemntary School.
Based on the projected fund requirement for 94 days, the province needs almost Php 178 million for rice, fuel, livestock, medicines, health emergency personnel, water, firewood and other expenses.
Meanwhile, Salceda believes that the activity of Mayon Volcano will not affect the tourism aspect of the province.
“In the 2009 eruption, Albay reached the target growth and now we are expecting to hit our target,” Salceda added. (PNA)
