LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Aug. 22 (PNA) — Twenty-year-old beauty queen Michelle Alegre of Bautista town, who was adjudged 2nd runner-up in the Queen of the Philippines pageant held last Aug. 1, will represent the country in the Miss Global Tourism International in Toronto, Canada on Dec. 1 to 8.
Instead of joining the Miss Bikini Universe beauty tilt in Beijing, China next month, she will be competing in the Miss Global International beauty pageant. The slight change, according to her, is an advantage because this is a much bigger pageant and will give her a chance to promote tourism in her own province.
In a courtesy call with Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr., the beauty queen, who is a relative of the governor, thanked the people of Pangasinan for the support and prayers they gave to her.
“Being a Pangasinense, I am proud to represent the Philippines and I will do my best to outshine other candidates and eventually bring home the crown,” she said.
She will promote the Hundred Islands, Bolinao white sand beach and the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag which are some of the tourist destinations in the province.
A B.S. International Travel and Tourism graduate, Miss Alegre will promote the province’s tourism when she competes in Toronto this December.
Gov. Espino congratulated the young maiden and said the province is proud of her achievement.
The governor urged her to always keep her feet on the ground and be proud of her Pangasinense roots.
She will keep training hard as a preparation for her competition and her dream to become an international beauty queen. (PNA)
