MANILA, Aug. 22 (PNA) — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday raided a printing press in Recto, Manila for illegal reproduction of books.
Raided by the NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division was the Boss Rick Printing Services.
The raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 158 due to the complaint filed by the Rex Publishing House.
In the complaint of the Rex Publishing House, the Boss Rick Printing Services was allegedly illegally reproducing some law books which Rex Publishing House had published and that such reproduction is violative of the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (IPCP).
Under the IPCP, the copyright infringement is punishable by an imprisonment of up to three years and a fine of not less than Php 50,000. (PNA)
