ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 16 (PNA) — The Department of Tourism (DOT) is organizing Tourism Clubs in the different schools here in the region aimed at boosting the tourism industry.

DOT Regional Director Mary June Bugante said Wednesday she will meet initially with the teachers and students of 15 selected schools from the different parts of the region as part of the preparation for the organization of the school’s Tourism Clubs.

Bugante said the meeting will be held Thursday (July 17) at the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) in this city.

“This will only be the first of the series of meetings we will conduct,” she added.

Bugante’s office covers the provinces of Zamboanga del Sibugay, Zamboanga del Norte, and Zamboanga del Sur and the cities of Dapitan, Dipolog, Isdabela, Pagadian and Zamboanga.

She said the organization of Tourism Clubs in schools is important as “they will serve as our partners in the development of the tourism industry in the region.” (PNA)
