DUMAGUETE CITY, June 17 (PNA) -– The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is to award Dumaguete City government a P3-million grant from the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) representing its earning for being a recipient of the DILG’s Seal of Good Housekeeping.
Local DILG Officer Felix Ablir, Jr. said Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria will receive the award at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Provincial DILG Office with no less than DILG-7 Director Ananias Villacorta to hand over the award, said Syril Repe of the City Information Office.
PCF is given to all provinces, cities and municipalities awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping on condition that the LGU shall allocate a counterpart fund to implement capital investment projects aligned with the national development agenda and priorities.
PCF aims to encourage LGUs to render their best performance in order to gain financial support that will boost and sustain the local economic development initiatives for poverty reduction in their respective localities.
Dumaguete City was awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2012, Ablir was quoted as saying.
Aside from Dumaguete, other municipalities and cities in the province will also receive the award, Repe said. (PNA)
