BAGUIO CITY, March 31 (PNA) –- The city government of Baguio and SMART Incorporated in cooperation with Innopub launched the first digital tourism markers in Luzon.
By scanning the bar code installed on selected tourist spots around the city with their smartphones, the digital markers will allow local and foreign tourist to learn more about the history, heritage and culture of the site.
A total of 14 digital markers were installed in seven sites; two at the Baguio Botanical Gardens, two at Wright Park, two at Mines View Park, three at the Burnham Park, two at the Lourdes Grotto, two at the Baguio Heritage Hill and one in this city.
In an interview Monday morning, Baguio City councilor Elmer Datuin, Council Committee on Tourism chairman, said the city will have to embrace and ride the digital wave if it wants to be competitive in the future.
The markers are seen as a big step in enriching and upgrading the tourism industry technology.
Max Limpag, the co-founder of InnoPub and the brains in the project, said residents should take good care and preserve the markers as it contains the rich history of the city in the digital tourism era. (PNA)
