CAMP DANGWA, Benguet, Feb. 8 (PNA) – The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) on Saturday expressed gratitude to the officials and residents of Bontoc, Mountain Province for assisting members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the rescue of the victims of the latest vehicular mishap in the area where 14 people died and 31 others were injured last Thursday.
Police Chief Supt. Isagani R. Nerez, regional director of the PROCOR, said the police units in the area were able to immediately evacuate the 31 injured to the Bontoc General Hospital (BGH) with the help of the local disaster brigade, “thus saving the precious lives of the survivors.”
The mishap happened when a chartered Florida bus from Manila en route to Bontoc, Mountain Province, or a distance of some 350 kilometers north of the country’s capital, plunged into a 120-meter ravine in Barangay Talubin, Bontoc town, some 10 kilometers away south of the poblacion area.
The impact was so strong that the bus was almost a total wreck. (PNA)
