BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Feb. 4 (PNA) — Heavy traffic in the towns of Bambang and Solano will soon be decongested especially during busy hours of the day and the influx of commuters during long vacations once the proposed road shortcuts in these towns are completed.
Rachel Magday–Itchon, executive assistant of the provincial government, bared that several alternative road shortcuts are now being studied by the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Representative Carlos Padilla and Governor Ruth Padilla to by-pass the congested portions of the national highway in Bambang and Solano towns.
The proposed 2.48–kilometer by-pass road in Bambang town starts from Barangay Macate that passes by the San Fernando Bridge to Barangay Almaguer North, behind the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT), that has an estimate funding cost of P74.40 million.
“Due to its flood-prone condition which require more funding, the proposed alternative route which starts from barangay Buag northwards to barangay Abian is also considered,” Itchon said.
The Bayombong-Solano proposed 6.56–kilometer by-pass road, on the other hand, starts from the end of Bayombong diversion road in Barangay Sta. Rosa, right at the left side of Jollibee billboard, going to Barangay Bonfal East towards Barangay Quirino and all the way to Barangay Polloc requires an estimated funding cost of P196.80 million.
Another option suggested is the Barangay Magapuy-Maddiangat-Nalubbunan-Dumayop road which is expected to boost the agricultural sector as it would serve as a farm-to-market road for farmers in the municipalities of Diadi, Kasibu, and Quezon.
According to Itchon, there are three other options presented by DPWH officials which will be subjected for feasibility studies to decongest heavy traffic in the towns of Solano and Bambang.
The proposed by-pass roads are being pushed by Representative Carlos Padilla and Governor Ruth Padilla as one of the high-impact projects for Novo Vizcayanos in the province.
Itchon said recently, DPWH regional director Melvin Navarro, district engineer Rodolfo Torralba, Liga ng mga Barangay Federation president Vic Gines, Bambang Mayor Flaviano Balgos and Bayombong Mayor Ramon Cabauatan Jr.and officials of the Nueva Vizcaya 2nd engineering district held a meeting at the provincial capitol with Rep. Padilla and Gov. Ruth Padilla which was highlighted by an ocular visit to the proposed sites. (PNA)
