Year 2002 Presidential Awards for Filipino individuals and private organizations overseas

Philippine Embassy, Tokyo

The Philippine Embassy is pleased to announce that the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) is accepting endorsements from Philippine Embassies and Consulates for nominations to the Year 2002 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas. Awarding rites will be held in Manila in December 2002.

The Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Private Organizations Overseas was institutionalized by virtue of Executive Order No. 498 issued on 19 December 1991. This awards system serves as a continuing manifestation of the government?fs appreciation of the many contributions of Filipinos and private organizations overseas in the development efforts of the country.

The five categories are: Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (LINKAPIL) Award, for Filipino associations or individuals for their exceptional or significant contribution to reconstruction, progress and development in the Philippines; Kaakabay ng Bayan Award, for Filipino communities, federations or groups of Filipinos overseas who have purposely united for the common objective of providing assistance or support for the reconstruction, progress and development of the country; Kaanib ng Bayan Award, for foreign private organizations for their exceptional or significant contribution to Philippine reconstruction, progress and development; Banaag Award, for Filipino individuals or associations for their contributions which have significantly benefited a sector ! or community in the Philippines, or advanced the cause of overseas Filipino communities; and Pamana ng Pilipino Award, for Filipino overseas, who, in exemplifying the talent and industry of the Filipino, have brought the country honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their work or profession.

The deadline for submission of nominations to the Embassy is 15 April 2002.
