FIJ
Holds 1st luncheon party
Just less than 3 months old, the organization named "Filipinos
in Japan" (FIJ) held their first meeting in Yokohama on July
22.
Members fondly call FIJ an e-group or an e-tambayan, which
was created for all Filipinos residing in Japan to provide a special
place to hang out, make friends and be with friends. It is also
where members can learn by sharing their knowledge and experiences,
as well as discuss important matters, with the aim of promoting
a peaceful and harmonious life in Japan. Members can also just swap
tales and have the best time.
Hopefully, FIJ can inspire Filipinos throughout Japan to be the
best Filipinos they can be, but most of all, to provide a comfy
and felicitous place to be with their compatriots, their press release
said.
It is really not that heavy as it sounds. After all, it is just
an e-tambayan where Filipinos in Japan can unwind and have
a few laughs with friends.
FIJ owner/moderator Margot Komine created the mailing list on May
9, 2001. She arrived in Japan on November 16, 1991.*
