Overseas Filipino youth invited to immersion trip

The Commission on Filipinos Overseas, through the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, is inviting Filipino youth overseas to participate in this year's Lakbay-Aral.

The Lakbay-Aral program is a two-week study visit to the Philippines designed to raise awareness and appreciation among overseas Filipino youth, of the country's rich historical and cultural heritage. The program includes lectures on Philippine history, culture and language, guided tours to scenic and historical landmarks, interaction with Filipino students, government officials and indigenous communities, and participation in traditional festivities. It is also designed to rekindle the interest of Filipino youth overseas in their country of origin.

This year's Lakbay-Aral is scheduled on July 21 to August 5, and will be concentrated in the Luzon area. Participation fee is US$800 which will cover all inland transportation, food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), hotel accommodation, special tour packages, as well as accident and medical insurance for the duration of the program. The program fee does not cover international airfare to and from Manila. The itinerary and schedule, however, may be revised in consideration of particular interests of prospective participants.
