Manila-Okinawa flights

Cutting the ribbon to inaugurate
the flight between Manila and Okinawa on June 20 are

Philippine Airlines inaugurated its first flight between
Manila and Okinawa on June 20, 2003 with a ribbon-cutting
ceremony with Philippine ambassador to Japan Domingo L. Siazon,
PAL President Avelino Zapanta, and Okinawa Governor Keiichi
Inamine.
PAL flies direct between Manila and Okinawa on Mondays and
Tuesdays, leaving Manila at 9:00 A.M. and arriving in Okinawa
at 12:15 P.M. The same flight proceeds on to Fukuoka at 13:05
and arrives there at 14:40. On Fridays and Saturdays, PAL
flies straight to Fukuoka from Manila, arriving in Fukuoka
at 13:25 and then leaving for Okinawa at 14:25. It arrives
in Okinawa at 16:05.

Philippine Embassy celebrates
Independence Day
In celebration of the 105th anniversary of Philippine independence,
Philippine Ambassador to Japan Domingo L. Siazon, Jr. and
Madame Kazuko Siazon entertained guests in a reception at
the Ambassadors Residence in Kudan, Tokyo. The party
was graced by dignitaries, diplomats, politicians, business
and media executives and friends of the embassy.
The occasion was also highlighted by a flag-raising ceremony,
the annual photosession and Filipino breakfast joined by all
officers and staff at the Philippine Embassy in Roppongi,
Tokyo.
Basketball tourney held; top team
named
The team dubbed Six Elements emerged as over-all
champion during the 1st BBADDICTS Basketball Tournament held
every weekend at the Odaiba International Students House,
Tokyo, from May 11 to June 29, tournament organizer and commissioner
Jafeth Chan Baay announced.

The sports event, which was participated in by almost 50
Filipino and non-Filipino players comprising 6 teams, was
held to instill friendship and camaraderie among the participants.
Baay said that he organized the event together with other
Filipino professionals and students to provide a venue for
interaction among sports-minded Filipino and Japanese youth.
The champion team was composed of Edwin Volante (coach),
Roland Cedilla, Stanly Racimo, Bernard Chua, Amboie Romeo,
Pochie Dela Cruz, Eugene Kim and Cesar Adamos (team captain).
Aside from Baay, the other tournament organizers are Nathaniel
Morales, Jo Gel Santiago, Glen Babiano, Gene Paul Balabag,
and Naoki Tamitani.
