WINTRY ENTOMBMENT
and he openly wept
under the gentle snow
touching the clustered row
of benches in the park
and tombstone lining
the stoned wall
of decadence, of grief-stricken
souls dying to breathe free of the
guilt that now envelop
nobody strong to lean on
but the self already deep
in turbulent remorse
and as he picked up
and threw the rose
into the open grave
that seem to swallow all the
whimpers and incessant
sobs and cries reaching to crescendo
open petals, livid red
seem to crumble as it deftly
touched the casket already
lowered down
blanketing the wooden box
and he cried, and
cried once more, as memories wash him
to the hidden and forbidden yesterdays
of walks under the moonlight
and kisses in the dark
pale shelter of ethereal existence
and bodies becoming one
gloomy introspection as
flakes of white continue
to pummel the congregation
as he scoop the dirt and throw
in the open hole
deftly hiding the tears cascading
and sluicing down his cheeks
as ravens eye the figures
in black trench coats
the bell tolls from the distance
deafening, entrancing
beautifully sickening
